Fair Lilly's Money

In the article that I chose from the NewYork Times which was titled " Obama signs Equal-Pay Legislation", it's all about a lady named Lilly Ledbetter who worked for Goodyear tire Company for 19 years. At the end of her career, she discovered that the men who had worked with her were getting paid more than she was. This was more than troubling to her so she took the case to court. In the end, it got as far as the Supreme Court, who threw the case out in a very close vote and a technicality that said she had taken too much time to complain about the situation.
Ms.Ledbetter's people tried to get the law passed again during the most recent Bush administration, but it was opposed again. The woman wouldn't give up. So today, the law was not only signed, but is the first one to be signed by President Obama.
I am all for this bill that is going to give hard working people, who have been spending their lives in the factories that we take for granted, a chance to tell the corporate guys that they are gonna fight the crap that goes on. There is more of a window of time to complain and investigate why a 20-something kid is going to get paid double to do a job a 40-something faithful employee, who's been with the company since they were 18, can do a million times better. Not that I'm gonna play the " I am Woman,Hear me Roar" card, but this may also make some employers think twice about giving a raise to a male worker who can't half do their job without major female assistance. These companies who think they're gonna get away with unfair paychecks, bonuses, and raises better watch out for the Ms.Lilly Ledbetter.,cause now she has the power of the law (literally).
